New York City is the most recognizable metropolis in the world, its charm captured by millions of cameras and portrayed in thousands of movies and TV shows. It is packed with tourists throughout all seasons wishing to get a taste of it. And needless to say, women travelers love New York City.

In contrast to many other films shot in New York City, the episodes of Sex and the City were actually created on the city’s streets and its institutions. Only a small part was captured in Los Angeles movie pavilions.

That is why fans of Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbs, and Samantha Jones do not leave New York City disappointed. Everyone has the opportunity to repeat the route of the famous four and feel like a star of their favorite series.

When it comes to solo woman travels, exploring the iconic sites of Sex and the City and enjoying the special big city atmosphere is the best experience you can have. Here are places from the series you don’t want to miss!

Plaza Hotel

The Plaza, one of the oldest hotels in the world, is a well-deserved symbol of New York City, so it comes as no surprise many Sex and the City scenes were filmed in front of the famous hotel.

One of the moments will stay in everyone’s hearts for a long time since here Carrie meets the man of her dreams after his engagement party with Natasha. You can visit the hotel at 768 5th Ave, New York, NY 10019.

Magnolia Bakery

Paradoxically, this little bakery in the West Village only appeared on the show for a few minutes, but it was enough to make it famous. Before its doors, Carrie told Miranda about her feelings for Aidan. Just after the episode aired, the cafe became a cult spot for Sex and the City fans.

Perhaps everyone’s love for Magnolia Bakery is due to its close proximity to another popular spot, Carrie’s apartment, or maybe the mouth watering cupcakes captured in the brief scene. If you wish to get a bite of the yummy sweets, the address of the bakery is 401 Bleecker St, New York, NY, 10014.

Carrie’s Apartment

New Yorkers know that it is impossible to rent a brownstone apartment on the salary of a columnist, even one as successful as Carrie Bradshaw.

The makers of the series called this fiction but never explained why they did not like the equally prestigious West Village, where the famous veranda with the brown steps was filmed. The address is 66 Perry Street, New York, NY.

Buddakan restaurant

The night before the wedding ceremony, Carrie and Big dined with close friends within the walls of the Buddakan restaurant.  It is one of the few restaurants that became famous not because of the TV series but because of the first film of Sex and the City.

The best part – visitors do not have to book a place in advance to admire the interior of Buddakan since they can drop in for an afternoon coffee. If you would like to visit this location, the address is 75 9th Ave, New York, NY 10011.

New York Public Library

Another Sex and the City location, best known from the first feature film but previously seen in the TV series as well, is the New York public library. Here Carrie decides to celebrate her wedding to the man of her dreams.

The dramatic moment when Mr. Big announces to Carrie that he will not attend the ceremony was filmed in the library building and the 5th Avenue square in front of it. To see it in real life, head to 476 5th Ave, New York, NY 10018.

Central Park

There is not much to say about Central Park that is unknown. Being one of the main symbols of New York City, it should be included in every traveler’s bucket list. You can spend a whole day there and still not see everything it has to offer. Fans of Sex and the City know that many episodes featured the iconic park.

Central Park covers the area from 110th Street North to Central Park South (59th Street) and Central Park West (8th Avenue) to 5th Avenue.

The look and feel of New York City is probably familiar to anyone who has ever watched television. Countless films and TV series have shown the city from every angle.

We invite you to walk through the sets of one of the most famous TV series about New York City – Sex and the City. Use the opportunity to feel like one of the characters for a day and immerse yourself in the world of fashion and expensive restaurants!
